I often tell people that my position as Director of Reverse Mortgage Lending is the best job I've ever had, and I mean it. After practicing law for over twenty years, and working as a financial advisor, bank vice president and small business executive, I have found the ideal combination of financial services, the law and helping others understand complex programs that empower them to change their lives for the better.

The most significant characteristic of a reverse mortgage that makes it clearly superior to every other form of home equity finance, is that it puts the homeowner in control. You decide when and how much of your equity you want to convert to cash. You decide what to use the money for. You decide whether and how to allow the unused portion of your new creditline to grow. You decide if and when you want to make repayment, in whole or in part (except for some special programs that have time period restrictions on partial repayment). You decide how long you want to live in your home. You never have to worry about making monthly payments, foreclosure, or repaying more than the value of the property, regardless of how long you live, or how much cash you decide to take. You need only keep your property taxes current, your homeowner's insurance in force, and maintain your property in good condition. It's the last, best home equity loan you should ever have, and everybody should have one!
